Syed Saddiq Sister: Who Is Sharifah Amani Syed Abdul Rahman?: Syed Saddiq, full name, Syed Saddiq bin Syed Abdul Rahman is a Malaysian politician.
Saddiq has served as Muar’s Member of Parliament (MP) since May 2018.
He served as the Minister of Youth and Sports in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration from July 2018 to the collapse of the PH administration in February 2020.
Being the Minister of Youth and Sports in the PH administration made Saddiq the youngest federal minister in Malaysian history.
He is a founding member of the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (MUDA) and has served as 1st President of MUDA since September 2020
On 17 September 2020, Saddiq launched and co-founded MUDA and was officially registered as a political party on 23 December 2021.
That same year (2021), he was charged with several counts of corruption, including criminal breach of trust, misappropriation of funds, and money laundering.
In October 2022, he was ordered by the High Court to enter his defense on four charges of misappropriation of assets, money laundering, and abetting in criminal breach of trust
In September 2023, Saddiq hit the headlines after he and his Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (MUDA) party dropped out of the Unity government.
In a video, the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (MUDA) president, Saddiq described his decision as a tough one but said it must be done.
His decision comes after publicly expressing dissatisfaction with the abrupt halt of deputy prime minister, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s trial on corruption charges.
He said the government’s move to drop the 47 corruption charges against the deputy prime minister had made it difficult for MUDA to remain with the government.
