A Danish Aid worker identified as Anja Ringgren Loven has recounted how a 13-year-old pregnant girl was rescued.
Per the post the aid worker shared on Facebook, the girl was an indigene of Ekemini in Eket, Akwa Ibom state and as we speak, the child the lady gave birth to is four years.
Sharing the post, the aid worker wrote;
“Back in 2016 David Emmanuel Umem and our team rescued Ekemini. She was only 13 years old and pregnant.
Because of her young age, Ekemini had a cesarean a few months after the rescue. Our nurse Rose, our Director of Child Development Nsidibe Orok, our Education Officer Don Udowan and David was all with her. I was there via Skype from Denmark.
We were all so happy to welcome Abasiofon to the world. Only one day after the cesarean Ekemini stood out of bed ! She was so strong and NEVER complained about anything.
Ekemini is one of the strongest girls I have ever met in my life. To become a mother at the age of 13 is not easy and Ekemini had a lot to learn. Lucky for her she was surrounded by the best staff in the world at Land of Hope.
Today Abasiofon is 4 years old and he has grown into such a sweet butter cheeks muffin pumpkin pie you just want to eat up.”
