Ivan Rodriguez is a Puerto Rican retired professional baseball catcher who played in the Major League Baseball for a total of twenty (20) seasons. During his time in the MLB, he played for the Texas Rangers, Florida Marlins, Detroit Tigers, New York Yankees, Houston Astros and Washington Nationals.
He played high school baseball for Lino Padron Rivera High School and it was there he was discovered by scout Luis Rosa. He subsequently penned a contract with Texas Rangers in July 1988, at the age of 16, and began his professional baseball career.
Rodriguez’ career started for in the minor league with the Gastonia Rangers of the South Atlantic League and then to the Florida State League in 1990 where he was selected the best catcher in the league and named to the All-Star team.
Rodriguez is one of the renowned players during his time, winning the World Series in 2003 with the Florida Marlins. He has being named 14 times All-Star, won 13 Gold Gloves, 7 Silver Sluggard, an AL MVP, and NLCS MVP.
