He was born on December 2, 1974, in Mission, Kansas. Grant Wahl collapsed in the press box at the Lusail Iconic Stadium on December 9, 2022, while covering the FIFA world cup quarterfinal match between Argentina and the Netherlands in Qatar.
Local paramedics responded quickly and treated him for 30 minutes, including CPR, before Wahl was transported to a hospital, according to a statement by his wife. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The cause of his death hasn’t been announced however, he had complained of chest discomfort and sought help at the medical clinic at the World Cup media center, where he was told that he probably had bronchitis. He was given cough syrup and ibuprofen at the clinic.
As of October 2022, the late journalist had an estimated net worth of about $5 million. The family of the late journalist is yet to announce his final funeral rites.

Grant Wahl grew up with his brother Eric Wahl. His brother Eric believes his brother was killed. In a video he did questioning his brother’s death Eric said “My name is Eric Wahl. I live in Seattle, Washington. I am Grant Wahl’s brother. I’m gay. I am the reason he wore the rainbow shirt to the World Cup. My brother was healthy. He told me he received death threats. I do not believe my brother just died. I believe he was killed. And I just beg for help”.
“We’re still trying to find out (what happened). He collapsed at the stadium, was given CPR, was taken by Uber to the hospital and died according to Celine (Grant’s wife). We just spoke with the state department and Celine has spoken to Ron Klain and the White House,” he added.
