Don St. Claire was born on January 10, 1935. He was a young piano prodigy who loved spending his summers hunting and fishing on the family ranch in Idaho.
He was a Stanford University clinical faculty member and a Hahnemann Medical School graduate who spent more than 40 years practicing internal medicine in Palo Alto and the Portola Valley.
Don had a passion for medicine and helping people, and he was renowned for his bedside manner and diagnostic prowess.
The Kahuna, as he was affectionately known, was equally dedicated to living his life to the fullest, cherishing time with his family while traveling the globe and engaging in a variety of hobbies with an impressive level of commitment.
Depending on the day, Don might be found skiing, fly-fishing, repairing his Model A or working on a carpentry project, playing the piano, accordion, or banjo, riding horses, traveling abroad, or taking home the International Wine Maker of the Year trophy.
He was a devoted pet owner who adored his dogs, as well as a caring father who didn’t think twice about quitting work early on Fridays to pick up his children from school so they could go on trips to Tahoe. Everyone who crossed his path was affected by him.
