Daniele Orsato is a professional referee born on 23rd November, 1975 in Montecchio Maggiore, Vicenza, Veneto, Italy.
When he was a kid, Daniele Orsato was extremely interested in how “lights turned on” and his aim was to become an electrician. Orsato was the main referee to officiate the 2020 UEFA Champions League Final between Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich. He burst into tears when he was told he had been chosen to be the main referee for the UEFA Champion League final.
In 2020, Orsato was awarded by IFFHS as the best referee of that calendar year. He also officiated the second leg of the 2021 UEFA Champions League semi-final between Chelsea and Real Madrid.
On 20th November 2022, Orsato was appointed as the referee for the opening match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup between hosts Qatar and Ecuador.
