Chris Dawson Bio, Age, Parents, Wife, Children, Net Worth – Chris Dawson is an Australian and he has been convicted of murder. He was once a professional rugby league footballer who played vibrantly in the 1970s.

His wife, Lynette Dawson disappeared in the year 1982, and the NSW Coroner determined that Lynette Dawson was dead and that her most likely murderer was her husband, Chris.

After many years of stalled and failed investigations, he was arrested and charged with murder in December 2018, however, his trial started on 9 May 2022 in the NSW Supreme Court.

Dawson was born in the Australian city of Sydney. He is the second of twins, with a twin brother named Paul and an older brother named Peter. Dawson went to Sydney Boys High School and was a prefect. He received his diploma in 1966.

Dawson met Lynette Simms in 1965 at a high school function when they were both sixteen years old. They married at St Jude’s Church in Randwick in 1970 and had two children.

Chris and Paul were both Eastern Suburbs rugby union players. In 1972, the Dawson brothers switched sports to play rugby league for the Newtown Jets. Chris Dawson spent five seasons with the Newtown Jets in the second row alongside Paul.

His first wife, Lynette went missing in January 1982, and just two days after she went mission, Chris Dawson invited Joanne Curtis to move into the family house.

He did not reported his wife’s disappearance immediately as he did so six weeks after her disappearance. He claimed his wife had left after marital problems and had joined a commune.

He proceed to finalised divorce proceedings against his wife in the year 1983, and in 1984, he reportedly married Joanne Curtis in 1984, however, they divorced in the year 1993.

His first wife’s body has never been found, however, two coronial inquests were conducted in 2001 and 2003 with both ruling that Lynette Dawson must be dead and was most likely murdered by a known person.

On August 30, 2022, he was found guilty of murdering Lynette in 1982, after a judge only trial in the Supreme Court of New South Wales, and this came after he has previously pleaded not guilty to charges concerning the murder of his wife earlier.

His sentence came on December 2, 2022, as he was sentenced to 24 years in jail, with a non-parole period of 18 years, for the murder of Lynette.
